Prof. Dr. Samina Bano is working as a Professor & Head at the Department of Biochemistry, University of Karachi. Dr. Bano have obtained M.Sc/M.Phil from University of Karachi, and obtained PhD from University of Wales College of Medicine Cardiff, United kingdom. She received her Post-doctoral training from Cardiff Institute of Health Sciences. Dr. Samina had been honored to be holder of prestigious British Commonwealth Scholarship & Fellowship, formerly as a Scholar (1993-1997) and later as a Fellow (2008-2009). She is currently involved in teaching Clinical Biochemistry, Hematology, and Biochemical techniques such as Spectrofluorimetry, UV/Visible/IR Spectrophotometry and Atomic Absorption spectroscopy to graduate/ post graduate students. Prof. Samina is also supervising number of M.Sc and M.Phil, PhD thesis students and actively participate and organize international and national conferences and being an international and National reviewer for research articles published globally in international journals. Main areas of research focus on tryptophan metabolites in health and disease utilizing techniques such as HPLC, ELISA, Spectrophotometry, Spectrofluorimetry, Real time-PCR and computational tools such as flex X /molegro virtual docking software. Dr. Samina research work has been published in the journals such as Alcohol and Alcoholism, Neurochemistry, Pharmacological reports, Psychopharmacology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, BMC endocrine disorders etc. Dr. Samina had been selected as HEC approved supervisor by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan and listed in “Dynamic Women Scientist of Pakistan" and have been awarded RPA from 2012-2017 by Pakistan Council of Science and Technology.
